Phoenix, AZ., June 2012—BH Skating International and StudioSk8 ™ is partnering with the Metrocenter Mall of Phoenix to bring ice skating back to the future. The mall had a recreational ice skating rink in the 70s and 80s and coming soon: a 21st century eco-fantastic recycled plastic skating facility. Green thumbs up. All shoppers are invited to join the ‘Skate for Fun’ revolution.
With the installation of an1800 square foot rink, one of Arizona’s largest malls will help see that old trends find new friends. Set at the heart of the property the hybrid rink will offer mall-walkers and hipsters alike a chance to experience artistic exercise.
Metrocenter was once the largest mall in Arizona, retro met cool just after opening in1973 and it was ‘radical dude’, according to the film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure which was partially filmed there.
The recreational space will feature “Skate for Fun” public sessions and special events such as “So You Think You Can Skate” exhibition plus assorted hockey challenges kid’s events which only require a pre-registration application.
Opening May 24th and extending through July 1st from 12p.m. to 6 p.m. the site will be open 7-days a week. Look for it at 9617 North Metro Parkway West inside the mall located on the first floor of the Northeast Atrium in front of Dillard’s Clearance Center.
